The AMERICAN LOCK A5571 is a heavy-duty padlock built for industrial and commercial security applications. The body is constructed from brass and steel with a rectangular profile measuring 2 inches wide and 0.75 inches thick. The shackle is made from boron alloy for cut resistance, with a 0.375-inch diameter, 0.75-inch clearance width, and 2-inch height. A 5-pin cylinder provides reliable key control. This lock ships keyed different, meaning each unit operates on its own unique key. It is installed by maintenance technicians, facility managers, and trade professionals securing equipment, panels, gates, and lockout/tagout points.
The A5571 is suited for use in industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and job sites where durable lockout, equipment security, or access control is required. Its rectangular brass and steel body resists corrosion in typical indoor and sheltered outdoor environments. The boron alloy shackle adds resistance to cutting and sawing attempts. The keyed-different configuration makes this lock appropriate for individual assignments where master-keying is not required.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or addition for standard padlock applications including lockout/tagout stations, hasps, chains, and gate hardware that accept a 2-inch body padlock with a 0.375-inch shackle diameter.
Installation requires no special tools — insert the shackle through the hasp, chain link, or anchor point and engage the locking mechanism. Confirm the shackle clearance and diameter are compatible with the hasp or anchor hardware before installation. For lockout/tagout applications, follow OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 energy control procedures. Do not force the shackle into an undersized opening, as this can damage the locking cylinder.
