The AMERICAN LOCK A5532 is a keyed-different padlock built for demanding trade and industrial applications. The body is constructed from brass and steel, measuring 1.5 inches wide and 0.75 inches thick, and features a rectangular profile that fits standard hasp hardware. The shackle is made from boron alloy steel, offering high resistance to cutting and sawing. Shackle clearance is 3 inches, with a diameter of 0.25 inches and a width of 0.75 inches. A 5-pin tumbler cylinder provides solid pick resistance. Licensed tradespeople, facilities maintenance crews, and industrial service techs are the primary installers of this lock.
The A5532 is suited for securing electrical panels, gas meter cabinets, HVAC equipment enclosures, tool cribs, and utility lockout/tagout applications. Its rectangular brass and steel body fits standard lock hasps and staples found in residential and light commercial installations. The keyed-different configuration means each unit ships with its own unique key set, making it appropriate for multi-point lockout programs where individual keying is required. The boron alloy shackle is sized for use with most commercial-grade hasps and lockout devices.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit padlock for standard commercial and industrial hasps, lockout/tagout stations, and utility enclosure hardware requiring a 1.5-inch-wide rectangular-body lock.
Installation does not require special tools — insert the shackle through the hasp or staple and close the lock body until the shackle clicks into the locked position. For lockout/tagout service, follow OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 control of hazardous energy procedures and confirm all energy sources are isolated before applying the lock. Do not force the shackle if resistance is felt; inspect the hasp for misalignment before applying load. Keep the keyway clear of debris to maintain smooth cylinder operation.
