The AMERICAN LOCK A11 is a rectangular aluminum-body padlock designed for general-purpose security applications in commercial and light industrial settings. The body measures 1-3/4 inches wide and 3/4 inches thick, with a chrome-plated finish that resists surface corrosion. The boron alloy shackle is 5/16 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches wide, and provides 2 inches of shackle clearance, making it well-suited for medium-duty hasp and chain applications. A 5-pin tumbler cylinder delivers dependable key retention and pick resistance appropriate for job sites, equipment enclosures, and storage units.
This padlock is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial environments where a lightweight but durable locking solution is needed. Typical applications include tool storage, gates, lockers, cabinets, and utility enclosures. The keyed-different configuration means each A11 ships with its own unique key cut, making it appropriate for individual assignments rather than master-keyed systems. Electricians, HVAC technicians, and facility maintenance personnel commonly deploy this style of padlock for equipment lockout or general access control.
Designed as a standard rectangular padlock for use with conventional hasps, chains, and lockout hardware sized for a 5/16-inch shackle diameter.
Installation requires no tools — insert the shackle through the hasp or chain link and press closed until the locking mechanism engages. For lockout/tagout (LOTO) applications, verify compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 before deploying this padlock in an energy-control procedure. Always retain a duplicate key in a secured location. Do not force the shackle if resistance is felt, as this may indicate misalignment with the hasp.
