The AMERICAN GRANBY pfwp5 is a 5-micron string wound polypropylene sediment filter cartridge designed for general-purpose water filtration in residential and light commercial water treatment systems. The cartridge captures sand, silt, scale, rust, and other suspended particulates through a precisely wound cord construction that promotes high dirt-loading capacity and consistent flow. Rated for flows up to 5 GPM and temperatures up to 180 degrees F, the pfwp5 is suitable for a wide range of water quality conditions including exposure to acids, alkalis, and corrosive fluids. It is certified lead-free and meets NSF/ANSI 372, IAPMO R and T, FDA, and ISO 9001 standards.
The pfwp5 is intended for use in standard whole-house or point-of-entry filter housings where sediment reduction is required ahead of softeners, UV systems, or other treatment equipment. Its 2.375-inch diameter by 9.875-inch length fits many common 10-inch filter housings. Typical installers include licensed plumbers and water treatment technicians servicing residential, agricultural, and light commercial systems. The cartridge ships 30 units per carton, making it well-suited for service contractors managing scheduled filter maintenance across multiple accounts.
Designed for use in standard 10-inch water filter housings and systems; compatible with most acids, alkalis, corrosive fluids, and gases per manufacturer specifications. Verify housing inner diameter and sump length before installation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified water treatment technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the supply water and relieve system pressure before opening the filter housing and removing the spent cartridge. Do not exceed the rated flow rate of 5 GPM or the temperature limit of 180 degrees F, as doing so may reduce filtration performance or damage the cartridge. Replace the cartridge on a scheduled basis or when a noticeable drop in flow rate indicates dirt loading capacity has been reached.
