The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING XTP22-23.02 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in steel and other ferrous workpiece materials. This insert seats into a Seat Size 22 spade drill holder and features a 140-degree point angle optimized for accurate entry and chip control. The AM420 PVD coating provides a hard, wear-resistant surface layer that extends cutting life in demanding production environments. Fractional diameter equivalence is 29/32 inch (23.02 mm), making it a precise-geometry insert for applications where hole quality and dimensional consistency are critical. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual drilling operations.
This insert belongs to the GEN3SYS XT Pro series, a line engineered for deep-hole and high-feed spade drilling. Primary application is drilling steel (material code P), covering low- to medium-alloy steels common in general machining, heavy equipment manufacturing, oil and gas component production, and structural fabrication. The insert is a single-piece solid carbide construction, making it appropriate for high-speed, coolant-fed spindles where rigidity and thermal resistance are required. It is sold as a single insert per package.
Designed for use with Seat Size 22 GEN3SYS XT Pro spade drill holders. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P). Verify holder seat size and series compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully de-energized and locked out before seating or removing the insert. Verify that the holder pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before inserting - contamination under the seat face will affect runout and hole quality. Follow the holder manufacturer's torque guidelines for the clamping screw; do not over-torque, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under clamp stress.
