The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING TCMT-110204 is a carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Shaped as a 60-degree triangle (T-style) with a positive side clearance angle of 7 degrees, this insert delivers clean, controlled chip formation on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The screw-lock holding method keeps the insert firmly seated during interrupted or continuous cuts. With an inscribed circle diameter of 0.2500 inches and a corner radius of 0.0160 inches (0.40 mm), the TCMT-110204 suits finishing and light-to-medium roughing operations where dimensional accuracy matters. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This insert fits standard TCMT-style toolholders used in production turning, job shop work, and maintenance machining environments. It is suited for both horizontal and vertical turning applications where a positive-clearance triangular insert geometry is specified. The ANSI insert code is TCMT21.51 and the ISO insert code is TCMT110204, making cross-referencing to compatible toolholders straightforward. Typical applications include OD turning of shafts, pins, and cylindrical components in steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys. Each package contains one insert; the minimum order quantity is 10 inserts.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard TCMT-style screw-lock turning toolholders that accept a 60-degree triangular carbide insert with ANSI code TCMT21.51 or ISO code TCMT110204.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians following the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder OEM guidelines. Ensure the lathe or turning center is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before changing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
