The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING TAM1-18.50 is a solid carbide spade drill insert engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Designed for the T-A Pro series, this insert measures 18.5mm (0.7283 inches) in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle optimized for clean entry and accurate hole geometry. The AM460 PVD coating provides enhanced surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in difficult cutting conditions. Thickness is 0.1563 inches. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians working with stainless steel and similar hard materials rely on this insert for consistent, repeatable results in production environments.
The TAM1-18.50 is intended for use with compatible T-A Pro series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 1 insert. Its primary application is drilling stainless steel (ISO material code M), making it well suited for aerospace, food processing, medical device, and industrial fabrication operations where stainless is common. The solid carbide construction is appropriate for CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and other rigid machine tool setups where insert rigidity and cutting-edge integrity are critical.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING T-A Pro series spade drill holders requiring a Seat Size 1 insert. Optimized for machining stainless steel workpieces (ISO material group M).
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screws specified by the holder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert seat or fracture the carbide. Inspect the holder pocket for debris, chips, or wear before seating a new insert. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for speed, feed, and coolant application when programming cuts in stainless steel.
