The body is constructed from steel and features a straight flute design with through-coolant capability via axial concentric entry, which supports chip evacuation and heat management during deep drilling. With a 1/2 inch minimum drill diameter and a maximum drill diameter of 0.6950 inches, this tool covers a practical range of bore sizes. The flanged, flatted shank measures 3/4 inch in diameter and seats securely in compatible toolholders.
This spade drill body is suited for CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and drill presses where indexable tooling is preferred over solid carbide for cost efficiency and flexibility. The T-A Pro series is engineered for standard-length drilling applications with a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. It is appropriate for use on universal workpiece materials, including ferrous metals, stainless alloys, cast iron, nonferrous metals, superalloys, and hardened materials as indicated by the P, M, K, N, S, and H material group codes. Designed for use with compatible T-A Pro series indexable spade drill inserts from Allied Machine and Engineering. Accepts blades within the minimum drill diameter of 1/2 inch and maximum drill diameter of 0.6950 inches. Fits toolholders with a 3/4 inch shank bore designed for flatted, flanged shank tooling.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is de-energized before mounting or removing the drill body. Confirm the toolholder bore matches the 3/4 inch flatted shank and that the flange seats properly to prevent axial pullout. Connect through-coolant supply lines before operation and verify coolant flow through the body prior to cutting.
