The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 7C229P-0108AS is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 1-1/4 inch diameter and a 140-degree point angle, this insert is engineered for precise hole entry and efficient chip evacuation. It features an AM300 PVD coating applied over a C2 (K20) carbide grade substrate, which enhances wear resistance and extends tool life when cutting through abrasive and work-hardening materials. The insert seats into a Seat Size 29 holder within the GEN3SYS XT platform. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production drilling environments.
This insert is primarily intended for drilling stainless steel and other ISO M-classification workpiece materials, where tool durability and cutting edge integrity are critical. The GEN3SYS XT series is a modular spade drilling system suited for both through-hole and blind-hole applications. The AM300 coating and C2 carbide grade make this insert well suited for operations where heat generation and material adhesion are common challenges. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and other rigid machine tool setups where consistent hole diameter and finish are required.
Designed for use with GEN3SYS XT series Seat Size 29 spade drill holders from Allied Machine and Engineering. No additional compatible holder or system model numbers were specified in the available product data.
Spade drill inserts should be installed and torqued into the holder body according to the holder manufacturer specifications before mounting in the machine spindle. Always power down and lock out the machine tool before changing inserts. Inspect the holder seat for chips, burrs, or wear before seating a new insert, as debris on the seating surface will affect insert position and hole accuracy. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool operating standards during setup and changeout.
