The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 7C224P-0100 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to the GEN3SYS XT series standard, this insert features a 140-degree point angle and an AM300 PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting abrasive and heat-resistant materials. With a 1-inch cutting diameter and a seat size 24 designation, it mounts directly into compatible GEN3SYS XT spade drill holders. Machinists and tooling specialists working in CNC and manual drilling operations rely on this insert for consistent geometry and reliable chip control across a range of workpiece materials.
The 7C224P-0100 is suited for production drilling in both job shop and manufacturing environments. It is intended for use in operations targeting stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium. The 140-degree point angle reduces thrust force at entry and exit, making it a practical choice for through-hole and blind-hole work on materials with varying machinability ratings. This insert is a single-seat, indexable consumable — it is replaced rather than reground, keeping setup time low in high-volume drilling programs.
Designed for use with GEN3SYS XT series spade drill holders requiring a seat size 24 insert at 1-inch diameter. Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and super-alloys and titanium (S) per ISO material group codes.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate insert screw and torque driver specified by the holder manufacturer — do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the holder seat for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
