The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 7C222P-0028 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding machining applications. Built to GEN3SYS XT series specifications, this insert features a 140-degree point angle and an AM300 PVD coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard-to-machine materials. At 7/8 inch in diameter with a seat size 22, it fits directly into compatible GEN3SYS XT spade drill holders. The C2 (K20) carbide grade provides the hardness and edge retention required when drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Machinists and tooling professionals in production shops and job shops rely on this insert for consistent hole quality across difficult workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for both roughing and finishing drilling operations in CNC machining centers and drill presses where high feed rates and extended tool life are priorities. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes stainless steel (ISO M), cast iron (ISO K), non-ferrous metals (ISO N), and superalloys and titanium (ISO S). It is appropriate for both light production and heavy-duty industrial drilling environments where tooling consistency directly impacts cycle time and part quality.
Designed for use with GEN3SYS XT series spade drill holders accepting a seat size 22 and a 7/8 inch diameter insert. Verify holder seat size and series compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating an insert. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the holder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamping screw, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamp force. Inspect the holder seat for chips, burrs, or damage before seating the new insert to ensure accurate positioning and safe operation.
