The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 60517S-075F is an indexable spade drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built on the GEN3SYS 17 series platform, it accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts and delivers consistent bore quality through axial concentric coolant delivery. The steel body features a flatted cylindrical shank measuring 0.75 inches in diameter and an overall length of 6.765625 inches (6-49/64 inches). Maximum drilling depth reaches 3.546875 inches (3-35/64 inches), covering drill diameters from 0.6693 to 0.7083 inches. Through-coolant capability with a 1/8 inch NPT threaded coolant entry port supports extended tool life and chip evacuation at depth.
This drill body is suited for general-purpose production machining operations in job shops, contract manufacturing, and maintenance machining environments. The straight flute geometry and 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio make it appropriate for through-holes and blind-holes in ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, cast materials, and plastics. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC operators using standard tool holders compatible with a 0.75-inch flatted shank.
Designed for use with GEN3SYS 17 series spade drill inserts from Allied Machine and Engineering. Compatible with workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P, indicating universal applicability across cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and steel alloys.
Installation is performed by machinists using a tool holder or chuck compatible with a 0.75-inch flatted shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing the drill body. Confirm coolant supply connection matches the 1/8 inch NPT thread specification before enabling through-coolant flow. Follow the tooling manufacturer guidelines and applicable machine shop safety protocols when setting cutting parameters for the specific workpiece material.
