The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 4C2ZP-12.5 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling applications in demanding materials. This insert features a 12.5 mm cutting diameter, a 132-degree point angle, and an AM300 PVD coating applied over a C2 (K20) carbide grade substrate. It seats in a Seat Size Z holder and is part of the GEN2 T-A indexable spade drill system. The AM300 coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability, making this insert well-suited for cutting environments where tool life and surface integrity are critical priorities. Installation is performed by machining professionals and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is engineered for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys and titanium. The GEN2 T-A system is a well-established indexable spade drilling platform used in production machining, job shop, and contract manufacturing environments. This insert is appropriate for applications requiring consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy in difficult-to-machine materials at moderate to high cutting speeds.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series Seat Size Z spade drill holders as specified in the product data. Compatible workpiece material codes are M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous metal), and S (super-alloys and titanium).
Insert seating and torque should be performed according to the holder manufacturer specifications using the designated insert screw and appropriate hex key. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and accurate positioning. Follow shop safety practices and applicable machining standards when working with carbide cutting tools.
