The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 4C21P-0027 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built to the GEN2 T-A series standard, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a Seat Size 1 body, measuring 0.1563 inches thick. The AM300 PVD coating provides thermal and wear resistance, extending tool life in abrasive and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. Machinists and tool-crib technicians working in production or job-shop environments install this insert as a replaceable cutting element within a compatible T-A spade drill holder.
This insert is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium. The 132-degree point geometry is selected for these material groups because it manages heat and chip formation in materials that work-harden or generate high cutting forces. The GEN2 T-A series is a modular drill system where the insert seats into a reusable holder body, allowing the cutting edge to be replaced without replacing the entire tool assembly. Typical applications include production machining centers, CNC turning centers, and manual mills in industrial and tooling environments.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 1 insert at 27/32 inch diameter. Verify holder seat size and series compatibility before installation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-crib personnel following the holder manufacturer's torque and seating procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing the insert. Ensure the holder seat is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause improper seating and premature failure. Follow the holder manufacturer's published clamping specifications — do not over-torque the clamping screw.
