The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 4C20P-0021 is a solid carbide spade drill insert engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Part of the GEN2 T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and an AM300 PVD coating, delivering extended tool life and reliable hole quality. At 21/32 inch in diameter and 0.125 inches thick, it seats in a Series 0 holder and is installed by machinists and tooling technicians running spade drill operations on CNC or manual drilling equipment. The C2 (K20) carbide grade balances hardness and toughness for consistent performance across a range of production environments.
This insert is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, super-alloys, and titanium. It fits production machining applications where controlled chip formation, tool life, and hole geometry consistency are critical. The AM300 PVD coating helps resist heat buildup and edge wear during interrupted cuts and high-feed operations. Typical installations include horizontal and vertical machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle setups in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Series 0 seat size with a 21/32 inch insert diameter. Compatible workpiece material classifications include stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metal (N), and super-alloys and titanium (S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the holder seat is clean and free of chips or debris before installing the insert, as contamination in the seat can affect runout and lead to premature failure. Follow the tool manufacturer torque guidance for the insert clamping screw, and inspect the insert seating surface for damage before each use.
