The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 483H-0128 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. This insert measures 1-7/8 inches in diameter and fits Seat Size 3 holders. It features a 132-degree point angle and is manufactured from premium cobalt steel with an AM200 PVD coating for extended tool life and heat resistance. The GEN2 T-A series design provides rigid support and efficient chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling. Machinists and CNC operators working in production environments will find this insert well-suited for high-feed drilling operations across a range of difficult workpiece materials.
This insert is engineered for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material classifications P, M, K, S, and H. It is appropriate for both manual and CNC-controlled machining centers in job shop and production floor environments. The GEN2 T-A series is a modular spade drilling system, and this insert is intended for use with the corresponding Seat Size 3 spade drill body or holder. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in heavy equipment manufacturing, aerospace component work, and general metalworking.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING GEN2 T-A series Seat Size 3 spade drill holders and bodies. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO classifications P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat and holder contact surfaces should be clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper indexing. Follow the tool manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw using the appropriate Torx or hex key driver. Inspect the insert seating surface and holder pocket for wear at each index interval.
