The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 45ZH-.510 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Featuring a 0.51-inch (decimal) diameter and Seat Size Z, this insert fits GEN2 T-A spade drill bodies and delivers consistent hole quality through its 132-degree point angle. The AM200 PVD coating enhances wear resistance and thermal stability, extending tool life in aggressive cutting conditions. At 0.0938 inches thick, the insert maintains rigidity under load. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians operating drill presses, machining centers, and CNC lathes.
The 45ZH-.510 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. These material categories correspond to ISO workpiece codes P, M, K, S, and H, making this insert a versatile option across job shop and production environments. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in both light and heavy-duty machining setups where consistent diameter and surface finish are required.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING GEN2 T-A spade drill bodies accepting Seat Size Z inserts.
Spade drill inserts are seated and secured by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before replacing an insert. Inspect the drill body seat for chips, burrs, or damage before installation, as a compromised seat will affect runout and hole quality. Follow the drill body manufacturer's torque procedure for the insert clamping screw using calibrated tooling.
