The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 456H-0312 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-feed drilling operations in demanding industrial and machining environments. Measuring 3-3/8 inches in diameter with a seat size of 6, this insert fits GEN2 T-A spade drill holders and delivers a 144-degree point angle optimized for efficient chip formation and accurate entry. The AM200 PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability during prolonged cutting cycles. At 0.10 pounds, this insert is a direct-replacement consumable installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and boring equipment.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It fits within the GEN2 T-A series platform, a modular spade drilling system widely used in production machining for deep-hole and large-diameter drilling applications across aerospace, energy, and general metalworking industries. The 0.4375-inch thickness and seat size 6 geometry ensure proper seating and indexing in compatible GEN2 T-A holders.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders at seat size 6. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials as classified under ISO codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before removing or seating the insert. Use the appropriate torx or socket-head driver as specified by the holder manufacturer to secure the insert clamp screw — do not overtighten by feel alone, follow the holder manufacturer's fastener guidance. Inspect the holder seat and locating surfaces for chips or wear before installing a new insert.
