The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 455H-0219 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding industrial applications. This insert measures 2-19/32 inches in diameter and is manufactured from cobalt for superior heat and wear resistance. It features a 144-degree point angle and carries an AM200 PVD coating that extends tool life when drilling through abrasive and hard workpiece materials. Part of the GEN2 T-A series, this insert is engineered for use in compatible spade drill holders used across metalworking and precision machining operations. Machinists and toolroom technicians specify this insert for production drilling where consistent hole geometry and tool longevity are critical.
The 455H-0219 is suited for production and job-shop environments requiring reliable performance across a range of ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. It is classified for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys and titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. Typical applications include deep-hole drilling on machining centers, lathes, and dedicated drilling equipment where interchangeable spade inserts reduce downtime and tooling cost compared to solid-shank drills.
Designed for use with compatible Seat Size 5 spade drill holders in the GEN2 T-A series. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys and titanium, and hard materials as defined by ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the holder seat and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before inserting. Follow the holder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw, and verify insert seating before returning the machine to operation.
