The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 454H-56 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the GEN2 T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and an AM200 PVD coating that extends tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. At 56 mm in diameter with a Seat Size 4 designation, it mounts into compatible T-A spade drill holders and is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals working in production or job-shop environments. The 0.3125-inch thickness and cobalt substrate provide the toughness needed for interrupted cuts and challenging alloys.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The GEN2 T-A platform is a common choice in CNC machining centers, manual lathes, and drill presses where consistent hole quality and insert interchangeability are priorities. The broad material compatibility makes the 454H-56 a practical stock item for shops running mixed-material production runs.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series Seat Size 4 spade drill holders. Confirm holder seat size before installation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Spade drill inserts are installed and replaced by machinists or toolroom technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the holder pocket and secure the clamping screw to the holder manufacturer's specification using appropriate torque tooling. Inspect the seating surface and screw threads for wear or contamination before each insert change.
