The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 454H-0200 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling applications in demanding production environments. This insert measures 2 inches in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle, making it well suited for entry into tough workpiece materials. Manufactured from Super Cobalt with an AM200 PVD coating, the 454H-0200 is part of the GEN2 T-A series, a system known for indexable spade drilling with replaceable inserts and dedicated holders. The insert has a Seat Size 4 designation and a thickness of 0.3125 inches. Installation is handled by machinists and tooling specialists working with CNC lathes, machining centers, or drill presses.
The 454H-0200 is designed for drilling into ferrous and non-ferrous metals including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It fits applications in manufacturing, aerospace, energy, and general metalworking where consistent hole quality and tool life are critical. The GEN2 T-A system uses a modular holder and insert configuration, allowing the insert to be replaced without removing the holder from the machine spindle. This reduces downtime and simplifies tooling management in high-volume drilling operations.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders from Allied Machine and Engineering that accept Seat Size 4 inserts. Compatible workpiece material groups include P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hard materials) per ISO material classification.
Installation of spade drill inserts should be performed by qualified machinists following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and seating procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the blade. Inspect the holder seat for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert, as contamination at the seat can affect runout and tool life. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine guarding requirements during setup.
