The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 452H-0109 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Part of the GEN2 T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a Seat Size 2 designation, making it suited for use in compatible T-A spade drill holder bodies. The AM200 PVD coating enhances surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in abrasive or high-heat cutting environments. At 0.1875 inches thick and 1-9/32 inches in diameter, this insert is a direct drop-in replacement for GEN2 T-A series holders in production drilling operations. Machinists and tooling specialists are the primary end users.
This insert is rated for use across a broad range of primary workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials — corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It is appropriate for both CNC machining centers and manual drill press setups where spade-style tooling is specified. The 1-9/32 inch diameter is suited for applications requiring a precise, mid-range bore size with a single-pass cutting approach, eliminating the need for multiple-pass boring in many setups.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series Seat Size 2 spade drill holder bodies. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes P, M, K, S, H).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the drill holder body is fully de-energized and the machine spindle is locked before seating or replacing the insert. Verify that the holder is rated for Seat Size 2 before installation and that all seating surfaces are clean and free of chips or burrs. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque guidance for insert clamping screws as specified in the holder documentation.
