The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 435T-0226 is a spade drill insert designed for high-speed drilling applications in metal fabrication and machining operations. Manufactured from M4-grade High Speed Steel with a PVD-applied TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating, this insert delivers extended tool life and reduced friction at the cutting edge. It features a 2-13/16 inch cutting diameter, a 144-degree point angle, and a Seat Size 5 interface that indexes into compatible GEN2 T-A spade drill holders. At 0.4375 inches thick, the insert provides a rigid cutting platform suited to production drilling environments. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert as part of a modular boring and drilling system.
This insert is intended for use in GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders and is suited for drilling into steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and manual knee mills where a large-diameter spade drill system is required. The TiN coating provides added wear resistance when running at elevated speeds in production environments. This insert is sold individually.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series Seat Size 5 spade drill holders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals (ISO material codes P, K, and N).
Installation and removal of spade drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the insert into the holder seat using the manufacturer-specified clamping screw and verify seating before running. Inspect the insert seat and holder for chips or debris before indexing a new insert. Follow the tooling manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and cutting diameter.
