The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 29030S-004I is an indexable spade drill designed for deep-hole drilling applications in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built on the T-A 3 series platform, it accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts, allowing the steel body to be reused across multiple jobs. The drill features a straight flute geometry, a 4MT taper shank, and through-coolant capability with radial entry ports threaded 1/4 inches NPT. The body measures 32.25 inches in length with a 31-inch flute length and an overall length of 38.8125 inches, making it suited for extended-reach applications where standard-length tooling falls short.
This tool is intended for use in machining environments — typically operated by machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling specialists on lathes, machining centers, or dedicated drilling machines equipped with a 4MT taper spindle. The T-A 3 series designation places it in Allied's general-purpose indexable spade drill line, rated for universal primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad spectrum of steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temp alloys. The drill accepts the 2T-4SR rotary coolant adapter for high-pressure through-coolant delivery.
Accepts spade drill insert blades sized for the 1-13/32 to 1-7/8 inch diameter range within the Allied T-A 3 series. Compatible with the 2T-4SR rotary coolant adapter. Intended for spindles with a 4MT taper interface.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's spindle and toolholder engagement specifications. Verify the 4MT taper socket is clean and free of burrs or chips before seating the shank. Confirm through-coolant line connections at the 1/4 inches NPT radial entry ports are leak-free and that coolant pressure is within the machine's rated delivery range before initiating a cut. Never exceed the machine spindle's rated RPM or thrust load for the selected insert blade diameter.
