The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 25040S-005I is an extended-length indexable spade drill designed for deep-hole drilling applications in a wide range of workpiece materials. It accepts spade drill inserts and delivers hole diameters from 1-29/32 inches to 2-9/16 inches with a maximum drill depth of 16-5/8 inches. The 5MT taper shank provides a rigid, self-holding mount in compatible machine spindles. Through-coolant capability via dual radial entry ports keeps cutting edges cooled and flushes chips during long-reach operations. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tooling technicians working with CNC machining centers, lathes, or manual boring mills.
The 25040S-005I is suited for general-purpose production drilling in materials classified under universal workpiece categories including steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, stainless, and high-temp alloys. Its straight flute geometry and extended body length make it appropriate for deep boring operations where chip evacuation and coolant delivery at the cutting zone are critical. The T-A 4 series designation identifies the compatible insert family. The rotary coolant adapter compatibility is listed as 2T-5SR for setups requiring pressurized through-coolant delivery.
Compatible with T-A 4 series indexable spade drill inserts. Rotary coolant adapter compatible with the 2T-5SR adapter. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S cover a universal range of materials including steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle taper is clean and free of debris before seating the 5MT shank to achieve full contact and concentricity. Confirm through-coolant connections are properly sealed at the coolant entry ports before operation, and verify coolant pressure is within the machine and tool manufacturer specifications. Never exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the insert grade in use.
