The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 25020H-004I is an indexable spade drill body designed for deep-hole drilling applications in metalworking and machining operations. Built on the T-A 2 series platform, this extended-length drill accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts and covers a diameter range of 31/32 to 1-3/8 inches with a maximum drill depth of 11-3/8 inches. The helical flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in difficult materials. Through-coolant capability with 1/8 inch NPT radial entry ports keeps the cutting zone cool during extended drilling cycles. The steel body is sized for machining centers and manual machines equipped with a 4MT taper spindle.
This drill body is suited for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is intended for use in production machining environments where extended reach is required, such as drilling deep bores in large castings, structural components, or weldments. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, aerospace, oil and gas, and heavy equipment manufacturing environments are the primary users. The 4MT taper shank mates directly with standard Morse taper spindles or sleeves.
The 25020H-004I is compatible with T-A 2 series spade drill inserts covering 31/32 to 1-3/8 inches diameter. It is compatible with the 2T-3SR rotary coolant adapter. The 4MT taper shank fits standard Morse taper No. 4 spindles and sleeves as found on drill presses, lathes, and machining centers with appropriate taper bores.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 4MT taper shank fully into the spindle taper before engaging drive; clean both the shank and taper bore thoroughly to ensure full contact and accurate runout. When connecting through-coolant, confirm the coolant entry fittings are properly threaded and sealed to the 1/8 inch NPT ports before applying system pressure. Insert indexable spade blades according to the manufacturer torque and seating specifications provided with the insert hardware.
