The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24500H-075F is an indexable spade drill from the T-A 0 series, designed for general-purpose drilling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. It accommodates drill diameters from 33/64 inches to 11/16 inches and reaches a maximum drill depth of 3-1/2 inches, making it well suited for production drilling where replaceable insert technology improves cycle times and tooling cost control. The helical flute geometry supports chip evacuation, and the through-coolant design delivers coolant directly to the cutting zone via an axial concentric entry. The body is constructed of steel and mounts via a 3/4-inch flatted cylindrical shank. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this toolholder body.
This spade drill body is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S — spanning cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, stainless steel, steel, and superalloys. The standard-plus, long-length configuration with a 4-5/8-inch body length and 6-39/64-inch overall length positions it for applications requiring reach beyond standard-length tooling. It is typically installed in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turning centers equipped with appropriate shank retention systems. The flatted shank provides positive rotational drive without relying solely on collet friction.
Designed for use with T-A 0 series indexable spade drill inserts compatible with the 24500H-075F holder body. Consult the ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING T-A insert selection guide to confirm insert grade and geometry for the target workpiece material code.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the flatted shank fully into the toolholder or spindle and verify drive flat engagement before tightening retention screws. Connect the coolant supply to the 1/8-inch NPT coolant port and confirm leak-free flow before running the spindle. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or damage each time the insert is indexed or replaced.
