The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24070S-005I is an indexable spade drill from the T-A 7 Series, designed for general-purpose hole-making in a wide range of workpiece materials. It accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts and is built around a 5MT taper shank with a shank diameter of 1.748 inches. The drill covers a diameter range of 3-17/32 to 4-1/2 inches, reaching a maximum drill depth of 10-3/4 inches. Through-coolant capability is supported via 2-radial entry ports with a 1/2 inch NPT coolant hole thread size. This tool is installed and operated by machining professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This drill body is suited for large-diameter boring operations in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, covering universal workpiece material classifications including steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloys. The 5MT taper shank mounts directly into compatible taper-socket spindles or sleeve adapters on vertical mills, lathes, and machining centers. The T-A 7 Series body is compatible with the 2T-6SR rotary coolant adapter for high-pressure coolant delivery. Straight flute geometry keeps chip evacuation predictable across the supported diameter range.
The 24070S-005I body is part of the ALLIED MACHINE T-A 7 Series and is compatible with the 2T-6SR rotary coolant adapter. It accepts spade drill inserts sized for the 3-17/32 to 4-1/2 inch diameter range. Fits spindles and toolholders with a 5MT Morse taper socket.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before mounting or removing the drill body from the taper shank socket. Verify the taper socket and shank are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating. Confirm coolant supply connections match the 1/2 inch NPT port specification before engaging through-coolant flow.
