The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24030S-150L is an indexable spade drill designed for precision hole-making in a wide range of workpiece materials. Part of the T-A 3 series, it accepts interchangeable spade blade inserts and is built from steel construction for rigidity under load. The drill accommodates diameters from 1-13/32 inches to 1-7/8 inches with a maximum drill depth of 8-1/4 inches. Through-coolant delivery via axial concentric and radial ports (Coolant Entry Style Code 3) keeps the cutting zone clear and helps manage heat during deep-hole operations. The 1-1/2 inch flatted shank provides positive drive engagement in standard drill holders.
This drill is suited for general-purpose production drilling in machining centers and CNC drilling operations where repeatable accuracy and blade interchangeability reduce tooling downtime. The straight flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications. The universal primary workpiece material classification (P, M, K, N, S, H) makes it applicable across steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, superalloys, and hardened materials, depending on blade selection. It is a standard-length tool appropriate for medium-depth bore work in both horizontal and vertical machining setups.

Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician familiar with indexable tooling systems. Ensure the machine spindle and coolant system are fully de-energized and locked out before mounting or changing the drill body or blade insert. Confirm the flatted shank is fully seated and the set screw or collet is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Connect the through-coolant supply to the 1/4 inch NPT coolant port and verify flow before initiating a cut.
