The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24030H-150F is a T-A 3 Series indexable spade drill designed for high-productivity metal removal in a wide range of workpiece materials. The body accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts, eliminating the need to replace the entire tool when the cutting edge wears. With a 1.5-inch flatted shank and helical flute geometry, the 24030H-150F delivers efficient chip evacuation and through-coolant capability via a 1/4-inch NPT axial concentric coolant entry. The tool spans 13 inches overall and handles drilling diameters from 1-13/32 inches to 1-7/8 inches at depths up to 8-1/4 inches. Installed by machinists and tool-room technicians on CNC machining centers and manual lathes alike.
This drill body is suited for general-purpose drilling operations across universal workpiece material groups, including ferrous, non-ferrous, and difficult-to-machine alloys. The T-A 3 Series platform is a widely used indexable spade drill standard in production machining environments. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys in both job-shop and high-volume manufacturing settings.
Designed for use with the T-A 3 Series indexable spade drill insert system. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specifications. Confirm insert grade and geometry selection based on specific workpiece material and machine spindle output.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before mounting, verify the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine-guarding procedures. Seat the flatted shank fully in the toolholder and confirm all set screws engage the flat to prevent rotation under cutting load. Verify coolant-through connection at the 1/4-inch NPT port is leak-free before initiating the first cut, and confirm programmed feed and speed parameters are appropriate for the selected insert grade and workpiece material.
