The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24020H-125F is a T-A 2 Series indexable spade drill designed for general-purpose hole-making in a wide range of workpiece materials. It accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts and features a helical flute geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling operations. The body is constructed from steel with a 1-1/4 inch flatted shank for positive drive in standard drill chucks and toolholders. Through-coolant capability with a 1/4 inch NPT axial concentric entry port keeps the cutting zone cool and assists chip clearing at depth. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this toolholder body.
The 24020H-125F covers a drilling diameter range of 31/32 inch to 1-3/8 inches with a maximum drill depth of 7-3/8 inches. It is suited for use in machining centers, CNC lathes, and drill presses where through-spindle or through-tool coolant is available. The universal primary workpiece material classification means it is appropriate for steel, cast iron, stainless, aluminum, non-ferrous, and superalloy applications where a general-purpose spade drill platform is specified. Standard length configuration fits the majority of production drilling setups without requiring extended-reach toolholding.
Designed for use with Allied Machine and Engineering T-A 2 Series indexable spade drill inserts covering 31/32 inch to 1-3/8 inch drilling diameters. Compatible with toolholding systems that accept a 1-1/4 inch flatted cylindrical shank. Through-coolant supply must be available at the spindle or toolholder to utilize the internal coolant feature.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Confirm the machine spindle is powered down and locked out before mounting or changing the drill body or insert. Ensure the flatted shank is fully seated and the retention screw engages the flat to prevent rotation under cutting load. When connecting through-coolant, verify the machine coolant pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the tool bore size before initiating the cycle.
