The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24000H-20FM is an indexable spade drill body designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. Built on the T-A 0 series platform, it accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts and covers a drilling diameter range of 13 to 17.5 mm with a maximum drill depth of 63.5 mm. The 20 mm cylindrical shank with flat features a flatted design for positive drive retention. Through-coolant capability via a 1/8 BSPT axial concentric entry port supports chip evacuation and tool life in deep-hole operations. The body is constructed of steel and is rated for general-purpose performance across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This drill body is suited for production machining environments where indexable tooling is preferred over solid carbide drills for cost efficiency and flexibility. The helical flute geometry assists chip flow during interrupted or full-depth cuts. With a body length of 92.1 mm and an overall length of 142.1 mm, it fits standard machining centers, CNC lathes, and drill presses equipped with 20 mm tool holders. The universal material compatibility code covers steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and high-temp alloys, making it appropriate for job shops and production floors running mixed-material work.
Designed for use with T-A 0 series indexable spade drill inserts compatible with the 24000H-20FM body. Fits tool holders accepting a 20 mm cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of metals and alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the drill body. Verify tool holder clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer specifications and confirm the through-coolant port connection is properly sealed before operation. Follow applicable shop safety standards and the insert manufacturer guidelines when seating or replacing spade inserts.
