The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 22020S-125L is a short-series indexable spade drill designed for precision hole-making in a wide range of workpiece materials. Part of the T-A 2 series, it accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts and delivers repeatable bore quality without regrinding. The drill accommodates diameters from 31/32 inches to 1-3/8 inches with a maximum drill depth of 3-3/8 inches. The 1-1/4 inch flatted cylindrical shank provides positive rotational engagement in standard drill holders. Through-coolant capability with axial concentric and radial coolant entry supports chip evacuation and tool life in production environments. Weighing 1 pound, it is suited for CNC machining centers and manual drilling operations requiring consistent performance.
This spade drill body is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials as indicated by material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. General-purpose tool performance makes it appropriate for job shops, production floors, and maintenance machining operations where a single drill body must handle varied materials. The straight flute geometry aids chip flow in shorter-depth applications. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC setup technicians working with indexable tooling systems.
Designed for use with the Allied Machine and Engineering T-A 2 series spade drill insert system. Compatible insert blades are selected based on the target hole diameter within the 31/32 inch to 1-3/8 inch range. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the drill body from its holder. Confirm the flatted shank is fully seated and the drive screw or set screw engages the flat before operation. Connect through-coolant supply lines to the 1/8 inch NPT coolant port and verify adequate flow before initiating the drilling cycle to prevent premature insert wear.
