Built to Series HP-A standards, it accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts and delivers consistent hole quality across multiple drilling cycles. The drill body features a straight flute geometry and a 4MT taper shank with a shank diameter of 1.231 inches, providing rigid, accurate positioning in compatible taper-socket spindles. With a maximum drill depth of 3 inches and an overall length of 7-7/8 inches, this tool is sized for short-reach applications on lathes, drill presses, and machining centers. Installation and operation are performed by machining professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This drill body covers a diameter range of 31/32 inches to 1-3/8 inches, making it suitable for a broad set of general-purpose and production drilling tasks. The Series HP-A designation places it in Allied Machine and Engineering's high-performance lineup, optimized for universal workpiece materials including cast iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, and non-metallic materials. Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit drill body for Series HP-A indexable spade drill systems accepting 4MT taper shank tooling. Compatible with spade drill inserts in the 31/32-inch to 1-3/8-inch diameter range for this series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the drill body from the taper socket. Clean the taper bore and shank surfaces thoroughly before seating to ensure full contact and accurate runout. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's draw-bar torque and retention requirements for 4MT tooling; do not exceed the recommended axial depth of cut for the selected insert grade.
