The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C22T-1.046 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating applied to a C2 (K20) carbide grade substrate. The combination of solid carbide construction and TiN coating delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance at elevated cutting speeds. At 1-3/64 inches in diameter with a Seat Size 2 designation and a thickness of 0.1875 inches, this insert mounts directly into compatible T-A series spade drill holders used across metalworking and machining operations.
This insert is rated for use in stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium — material codes M, K, N, and S. It is suited for CNC machining centers, manual lathes, and drill presses where consistent hole quality and diameter accuracy are required. The T-A series platform is a widely adopted interchangeable-insert spade drill system used in production machining environments, job shops, and aerospace fabrication. Machinists and CNC operators working with difficult-to-machine alloys will find this insert appropriate for both through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and super-alloys and titanium (S) per standard material classification codes.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before replacing or seating the insert, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Clean the seat pocket of any chips or debris before inserting — contamination under the insert will affect runout and hole quality. Torque the clamping screw to the holder manufacturer specification; do not over-torque, as this can damage the carbide insert body.
