The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C22T-0104 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Manufactured from C2 (K20) grade carbide and finished with a PVD TiN coating, this insert delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance during cutting operations. It features a 1-1/8 inch diameter, Seat Size 2 geometry, and a 132-degree point angle optimized for controlled entry and chip formation. This insert belongs to the T-A Series, a widely used spade drill platform in production machining environments. Machinists and tool-room technicians install these as replaceable cutting elements in compatible T-A Series spade drill holders.
This insert is suited for use in machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drilling machines operating in production or job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. The 132-degree point angle makes it appropriate for work in harder-to-machine alloys where a sharper point geometry supports chip control and reduces thrust force. It is sized for Seat Size 2 holders and is specified in the fractional inch measurement system.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and superalloys and titanium (S) per ISO material classification codes. Consult the T-A Series holder selection guide to confirm shank and seat size match before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following the holder manufacturer's seating and torque procedures. Ensure the holder seat is clean and free of chips or burrs before inserting the blade. Power down and lock out the spindle before any insert change. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's recommended feeds and speeds for the workpiece material and insert grade.
