The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C22A-0100 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. Built to the T-A Series standard, this insert measures 1 inch in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle optimized for accurate entry and clean through-hole drilling. The TiAlN PVD coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting through hard or abrasive materials. At 0.1875 inches thick, it seats into a Seat Size 2 T-A Series holder. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert as part of a modular drilling system on CNC and manual lathes, mills, and drill presses.
This insert is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, super-alloys, and titanium. It carries manufacturer grade C2 (K20), making it suitable for applications where edge strength and wear resistance are both critical. The T-A Series system is a common platform in production machining environments where insert changeability and repeatability matter. It is particularly well suited for shops running mixed-material jobs or high-volume drilling operations where downtime for regrinding solid drills is not practical.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, super-alloys, and titanium as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel. Always power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the holder pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination affects runout and can damage the insert seat. Follow the holder manufacturer's torque guidelines for the clamping screw — do not over-tighten.
