The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C21T-.703 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life and reduces built-up edge. It measures 45/64 inches in diameter with a Series 1 seat size and a thickness of 0.1563 inches. Manufactured to Manufacturer Grade C2 (K20), it is suited for machinists and toolroom professionals running spade drill holders in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is engineered for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys and titanium. It is well suited for drilling operations in aerospace, oil and gas, general manufacturing, and heavy fabrication environments where consistent hole quality and insert durability are critical. The T-A series platform is a modular system where the insert mounts into a compatible T-A series holder, allowing insert-only replacement without discarding the full tool body.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Series 1 seat size. Compatible with workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous metals), and S (super-alloys and titanium).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before changing the insert, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out following applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert securely in the holder pocket using the correct torque driver per the holder manufacturer specifications and inspect the seat surface for chips or debris before seating. Verify insert orientation and clamping screw engagement before returning the tool to service.
