The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C20A-0021 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built to T-A Series specifications, this insert measures 21/32 inches in diameter with a seat size of 0 and features a 132-degree point angle for accurate entry and reduced thrust. The insert carries a TiAlN PVD coating and is manufactured to C2 (K20) grade carbide, delivering heat resistance and edge retention when cutting at elevated speeds. At 0.125 inches thick and weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a direct-fit component for compatible T-A Series spade drill holders used in production machining environments.
This insert is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, super-alloys, and titanium. It is a fit for CNC machining centers, lathes, and manual drill presses where T-A Series spade drill holders are already in service. The TiAlN coating makes it particularly well-suited for dry or near-dry cutting conditions common in high-volume production shops and job shops handling exotic alloys. Machinists and CNC operators working with difficult-to-machine materials will find this insert appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole applications requiring consistent diameter control.
Designed for use with T-A Series spade drill holders accepting a seat size 0 insert. Verified workpiece material compatibility includes stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and super-alloys and titanium (S) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating any insert. Ensure the holder pocket and seating surfaces are free of chips and debris before securing the insert, as contamination can affect runout and seating accuracy. Follow the holder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture carbide inserts.
