The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 182T-29 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding industrial machining applications. Engineered to Seat Size 2 within the T-A Series platform, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a PVD-applied TiN (titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life and reduces built-up edge. The insert measures 0.1875 inches in thickness and weighs approximately 0.5 pounds. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians working with spade drill holders in production and job-shop environments where consistent bore quality and insert interchangeability are priorities.
The 182T-29 is suited for drilling operations in a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its 29 mm cutting diameter and T-A Series compatibility make it a practical choice for CNC machining centers, turning centers, and manual drill press setups where spade-style tooling is the preferred method for larger-diameter hole production without the cost of solid carbide or indexable twist drills.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 2 spade drill holders. Workpiece material compatibility includes steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation and replacement of spade drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct T-A Series insert seating tool or torque wrench as specified by the holder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the holder pocket for damage or contamination before seating a new insert. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during tooling changes.
