The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 182T-28 is a spade drill insert designed for use in T-A series spade drill holders. This insert measures 28 mm in diameter with a 132-degree point angle and is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel. A PVD-applied titanium nitride (TiN) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding cutting applications. The insert thickness is 0.1875 inches. It fits a Seat Size 2 holder and is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians in production drilling operations where consistent hole geometry and tool durability are required.
This insert is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turning centers where T-A series spade drilling tooling is already in use. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in both job shop and high-production environments.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible with workpiece material classifications P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (super-alloys and titanium), and H (hard materials).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the holder seat is clean and free of chips or debris before installing the insert to achieve proper seating and accurate hole geometry. Follow the tooling manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure for T-A series holders.
