The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 182T-0105 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making operations in demanding industrial and machining applications. Part of the T-A Series, this insert measures 1-5/32 inches in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle for aggressive, accurate entry into tough workpiece materials. The insert is 0.1875 inches thick and carries a PVD-applied TiN (titanium nitride) coating that reduces friction and extends cutting edge life. It is sized for Seat Size 2 holders. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert into compatible T-A Series spade drill bodies used on CNC machining centers, lathes, and dedicated drilling machines.
This insert is engineered for use across a broad range of primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is well suited for production drilling environments where insert changeability and consistent hole geometry are priorities. The T-A Series platform is a modular system, allowing the cutting insert to be replaced independently of the drill body, reducing tooling cost per hole in high-volume operations. Typical applications include structural component drilling, aerospace part fabrication, and heavy manufacturing where difficult materials are common.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 2 spade drill bodies. Compatible with primary workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (super-alloys and titanium), and H (hard materials).
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the drill body seat is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause seating errors and premature insert failure. Refer to the T-A Series holder torque and clamping specifications provided by Allied Machine and Engineering for proper fastening. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material grade being machined.
