The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 182N-0100 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. This insert measures 1 inch in diameter, seats in a Size 2 holder, and features a 132-degree point angle for accurate entry and reduced thrust. A PVD-applied TiCN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. At 0.1875 inches thick and weighing approximately 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, precision-ground cutting element installed by machinists and toolroom professionals on CNC and manual drilling equipment.
The 182N-0100 is engineered for use in the T-A spade drill system and targets a broad range of primary workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is well suited for production drilling operations in metalworking shops, job shops, and manufacturing facilities where consistent hole quality and tool longevity are priorities. The TiCN coating makes it particularly effective when cutting higher-strength alloys where heat and wear are the dominant failure modes.
Designed for use in T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Size 2 seat. Compatible workpiece material classifications include P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (super-alloys and titanium), and H (hard materials) per ISO material group designations provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before seating the insert, ensure the holder pocket is clean and free of chips or debris that could affect insert seating and runout. Torque the insert clamp screw according to the holder manufacturer's guidelines — do not overtighten, as this can distort the insert or damage the seat. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are set appropriately for the workpiece material and diameter before initiating the cut.
