The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 180T-.515 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Manufactured to T-A series specifications with a seat size 0, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a PVD-applied TiN coating that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and improving wear resistance. At 0.125 inches thick and weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a direct-fit replacement insert for compatible T-A series spade drill holders. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments rely on this geometry for consistent hole entry and chip control across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The cobalt substrate provides the toughness needed for interrupted cuts and abrasive alloys where high-speed steel inserts fall short. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers, manual lathes, and drill presses where T-A series spade drill bodies are already in use. It is sold as a single insert per package.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 0 insert. Compatible primary workpiece material codes include P, M, K, S, and H per ISO material classification.
Insert installation and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate T-A series insert seating tools. Ensure the spade drill holder is fully removed from the spindle and the machine is powered down before changing inserts. Inspect the holder seat for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination on the seat face can affect hole accuracy and insert life. Follow the holder manufacturer's torque and clamping guidance for the specific T-A series body in use.
