The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 180T-14 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Part of the T-A Series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a physical vapor deposition (PVD) titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends cutting life and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The insert measures 0.125 inches in thickness and fits a Seat Size 0 spade drill holder. At 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, single-use insert replacement suited for production and job-shop environments. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this insert for consistent, repeatable bore diameters of 14 mm across a range of workpiece materials.
The 180T-14 is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material classifications P, M, K, S, and H. This broad material compatibility makes it a practical choice for aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing applications where a single insert grade must handle diverse workpiece materials. It is sold individually and is designed to drop into compatible T-A Series spade drill holders without additional modification, making insert changes fast on the production floor.
Designed for use with Allied Machine and Engineering T-A Series Seat Size 0 spade drill holders. Specific holder compatibility should be confirmed against the T-A Series holder selection guide for the 14 mm diameter range.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle stopped, machine locked out, and all energy sources isolated per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate insert screw and torque driver specified by the holder manufacturer to secure the insert — do not use substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination will affect runout and bore quality. Dispose of worn inserts in accordance with applicable shop safety and materials handling procedures.
