The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 180A-.640 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making operations in demanding machining environments. Measuring 41/64 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, this insert is engineered for accurate, controlled penetration across a range of workpiece materials. The 0.125-inch thickness and Seat Size 0 configuration position it in the T-A series platform, a widely used modular spade drill system. A PVD-applied TiAlN coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in high-speed and high-feed applications. This insert is typically installed and managed by machining professionals and toolroom technicians.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It fits into T-A series spade drill holders using the Seat Size 0 interface, making it appropriate for CNC machining centers, lathes, and drilling stations in both production and job-shop environments. The TiAlN coating supports dry or minimal-lubrication cutting strategies in hard and abrasive materials. This part is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 2 units.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 0 spade drill holders. Suitable for workpiece materials classified as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO material group codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machining technicians or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the holder pocket and insert seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before torquing the clamping screw. Follow the holder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications for Seat Size 0 T-A series holders.
