The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 153T-0122 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert measures 1-11/16 inches in diameter and seats in a Size 3 holder. It features a 132-degree point angle and a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life and reduces built-up edge. At 0.25 inches thick and weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a direct replacement insert for T-A series spade drill bodies used in production and job-shop environments. Installation is performed by machinists and tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium workpieces. The T-A series platform is common in CNC turning centers, machining centers, and manual lathes where replaceable spade inserts reduce tooling cost versus solid-drill replacement. The 132-degree point geometry is well matched to harder and more abrasive materials that require a more obtuse cutting angle for controlled chip formation and reduced thrust force. Applications span automotive, aerospace, and general metalworking production.
Designed for use with T-A series Size 3 spade drill bodies accepting a 1-11/16 inch diameter insert. Verify holder seat size and insert diameter against your specific T-A series body before ordering.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before removing or seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified for the T-A series holder to secure the insert firmly in the pocket without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the holder seat for chips, burrs, or wear before installing a new insert, as seating surface damage will affect runout and tool life.
