The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 153T-0116 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metal-cutting applications. Part of the T-A Series, this insert measures 1-1/2 inches in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle for efficient chip formation and accurate entry. The TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. At 0.25 inches thick and weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a direct-fit replacement insert for compatible T-A Series spade drill holders. Installation and tool changes are performed by machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for use in T-A Series spade drill holder bodies that accept a Seat Size 3 insert. It is rated for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium, covering a broad range of ferrous and high-temperature alloys commonly encountered in general machining, aerospace, and heavy-equipment manufacturing. The 132-degree point geometry suits flat-bottom and through-hole drilling operations where controlled entry and reduced thrust are priorities.
Designed for use with T-A Series spade drill holder bodies requiring a Seat Size 3 insert. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), cast iron (ISO K), and super-alloys and titanium (ISO S).
Insert replacement is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat and clamping surfaces of the holder body should be inspected and cleaned before seating the new insert. Follow the holder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw — do not over-torque. Verify insert seating and runout before returning the spindle to full cutting speed.
