The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152T-1.015 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making operations in demanding industrial applications. Manufactured from T15-grade cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this insert delivers elevated wear resistance and heat tolerance at the cutting edge. The 132-degree point angle is suited for work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. At 0.1875 inches thick and ground to a 1-1/64-inch diameter, the insert fits a Seat Size 2 holder body from the T-A spade drill series. Machinists and tool-room technicians install this insert as part of a modular drilling system on CNC lathes, machining centers, and drill presses.
This insert is used in metalworking and machining operations where a replaceable-tip spade drill system is preferred over a solid-body drill. It is appropriate for production drilling in ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium. The T-A series modular system allows the insert to be swapped without removing the holder from the spindle, reducing changeover time on high-volume runs. Typical environments include job shops, aerospace shops, and OEM production lines where consistent hole quality and controlled tool costs are priorities.
Designed for use with Seat Size 2 holder bodies in the ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING T-A spade drill series. Compatible workpiece materials include Steel (P), Stainless Steel (M), Cast Iron (K), and Superalloys and Titanium (S) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation and replacement of spade drill inserts is performed by machinists or tooling technicians following the machine tool builder and holder manufacturer torque and clamping specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before removing or seating the insert. Seat the insert flush against the holder pocket floor and clamp face before torquing the retention screw to the holder specification. Inspect the insert seat and holder pocket for chips or debris before each insert installation to prevent seating errors and premature insert failure.
