The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152T-0108 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiN coating over a T15 cobalt substrate. The TiN coating reduces friction and improves wear resistance during cutting. At 1-1/4 inch diameter with a Seat Size 2 designation, it fits standard T-A series spade drill holders. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians install this insert as a replaceable cutting element, making it a cost-effective alternative to solid drill replacement.
This insert is suited for production drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is commonly used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and dedicated drilling machines where consistent hole quality and extended tool life are required. The T-A spade drill system is widely used in job shops and production environments where large-diameter hole drilling demands interchangeable, field-replaceable inserts.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders accepting Seat Size 2, 1-1/4 inch diameter inserts. Confirm holder seat size and insert diameter before installation.
Insert installation and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and energy locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct T-A series insert screw and torque driver as specified by the holder manufacturer — do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the holder seat for wear, chips, or debris before seating the insert, as a contaminated seat can cause insert rocking and premature failure. Verify insert seating is flush and secure before resuming drilling operations.
